HUMANSDORP – Sinethemba Somngesi (36), accused of murdering his girlfriend Nomxolisi Singqoto (30), briefly appeared in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on 5 November.

He faces charges of murder and driving under the influence of alcohol, allegedly for running over Singqoto with his vehicle on 1 November.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, it is alleged that on 1 November, Somngesi had an argument with Singqoto and drove away.

“It is said that Somngesi then made a U-turn, drove into the yard and struck Singqoto. She succumbed to her injuries,” said Nkohli.

He said that the case was postponed to 10 November for a bail application.
