WELKOM – The Free State has received a proud honour with the selection of veteran angling administrator John Rundle as manager of the Protea team set to compete in the prestigious Pairs World Championships in France from 6 to 18 April.

Rundle, a long-standing member of the South African Shore Angling Association, brings years of dedication and experience to his new role. His selection marks a significant milestone in his angling career and represents recognition of his commitment to the sport at the highest level.

Rundle is an active member of Blue Water Angling Club in the Free State, which forms part of the Free State Union.

His involvement in competitive angling extends well beyond personal participation, with a particular focus on youth development and expanding participation in the sport.

Rundle has established himself as a firm advocate for introducing young people to fishing, regularly encouraging parents to involve their children in various aspects of the sport, including surf casting and shore angling. His appointment to manage the national team reflects his standing within the angling community and his proven leadership capabilities.
