BOTHAVILLE, FREE STATE – During an anti-gang sweep, the Welkom unit arrested two suspects in possession of a large consignment of illegal drugs in Parys and Bothaville.
On Thursday 29 January, during a raid in the Kgotsong informal settlement in Parys, police discovered 74 zip-lock plastic containers containing suspected crystal methamphetamine weighing 74 grams. Officers also found 168 sachets containing dagga, one full Mandrax tablet, six halves, and 52 quarters Mandrax tablets, which were seized.
The suspect was arrested.
The operation continued with another identified target house being searched. Eleven zip-lock plastic containers containing crystal methamphetamine weighing eight grams and cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales were seized. A second suspect, aged 38, was arrested.

Case dockets for possession and dealing in drugs were opened at Bothaville Police Station. Both suspects have been detained and the seized drugs have been logged into the Evidence Management System.
The suspects are expected to appear in court once formerly charged.
