KWAZULU-NATAL – The KwaZulu-Natal police have dismissed rumours that warrants of arrest have been issued against leaders of March and March and the South Africa First Forum, describing the allegations as unfounded.

In a statement, police said they had no record of any cases registered against the two individuals and sought to clarify the matter amid concerns that the claims could cause panic among residents.

Police said they would not ordinarily respond to baseless allegations but considered it necessary to set the record straight given the situation on the ground and the potential consequences of the rumours.

SAPS warn avoid malicious statements

The police also urged activists to act responsibly and avoid making statements that could be considered malicious or reckless, particularly if such claims had the potential to incite violence.

Anyone who suspects that a warrant of arrest has been issued against them was advised to contact the police directly to verify the information and ensure that accurate facts are communicated to the public.

Police emphasised that public statements would not deter them from enforcing the law, adding that they did not engage in witch-hunts or target individuals.

They further urged people who publicly claim that warrants have been issued against them to clarify the charges they allegedly face, saying this would help prevent unnecessary speculation and uncertainty.

Police reiterated that information about alleged warrants should be verified through the appropriate channels rather than circulated as unconfirmed claims.
