JEFFREYS BAY – Joshua Jansen (19), a local teen from Jeffreys Bay, has returned to South Africa with the Mr Teen World 2025 title.
The international competition, which brings together contestants from more than 20 countries, took place earlier in November and assessed participants on more than physical presentation alone.
During the pageant, contestants took part in interviews, public appearances, and group activities designed to evaluate confidence, discipline, and cross-cultural engagement.
For Jansen, the experience provided exposure to a wide range of perspectives, as he spent several weeks alongside young men from diverse social, cultural and religious backgrounds.
The competition required extensive preparation, with a demanding schedule that included rehearsals, interviews, and on-stage evaluations.
Jansen has described the experience as one that reinforced the importance of consistency and self-discipline, particularly in high-pressure environments.
As titleholder, Jansen will serve a year-long term as Mr Teen World 2025.
His responsibilities include attending official events, participating in youth-oriented initiatives, and acting as an ambassador for the organisation.
The role places a strong emphasis on positive representation and community engagement, particularly among young people navigating issues related to identity, confidence and purpose.
Looking ahead, Jansen plans to continue his involvement in youth-focused projects.
These include the development of his podcast, which centres on conversations relevant to young people, as well as ongoing mentorship and creative initiatives aligned with his personal values.
His focus, he says, will remain on long-term impact rather than visibility.
Jansen’s achievement places Kouga on the international pageant map and highlights the growing presence of South African youth on global platforms.
