THREE learners from Global Leadership Academy represented the Sarah Baartman District at the Eastern Cape netball trials in East London this past weekend.
After many hours on the road, the girls played compelling matches, after which two determined sisters from GLA were finally selected for the Eastern Cape U/14 and U/16 teams.
Theuné and Lee-Ann Herbst were both competitive athletes in primary school, but missed out on the opportunity to compete over the past 18 months.
They were immensely grateful and excited to practise sport again and doing what they loved most.
Being selected to represent their province in netball has been a great achievement for these athletes, after not being able to compete or practise last year, due to the COVID-19 lockdown and restrictions.
