KOUGA Municipality received a petition from the Humansdorp Taxi Association (HTA) during a peaceful march to the municipality’s headquarters in Jeffreys Bay last week Thursday.

The crowd moved swiftly from the Time Square parking area, where they left their taxis, to the front of the municipal building, where they were met by municipal leadership.

The main grievance of the petition was around the existence and operations of other associations in the area and the legal standing thereof.

Receiving the petition of behalf of Executive Mayor Horatio Hendricks, Speaker Hattingh Bornman said the municipality would work through the petition and give feedback to the petitioners within the 14 days, as requested.

“We would also like to applaud HTA for the disciplined and exemplary manner in which they conducted their march,” he said.
