HUMANSDORP – A Humansdorp man (33) is expected to appear in court on charges of dealing in drugs after the Sarah Baartman District Crime Intelligence Unit uncovered drugs with a combined estimated street value of R150,000 hidden inside his KwaNomzamo home during a targeted late-night operation on 1 June.
According to police spokesperson Captain Marius McCarthy, members of the Sarah Baartman District Crime Intelligence Unit, in collaboration with the Sarah Baartman District Intervention Team, conducted the intelligence-driven operation at a premises in Mhlonyane Street, KwaNomzamo, Humansdorp, at approximately 22:00.
He said that on arrival at the premises the search warrant was presented to the 33-year-old owner of the premises, whereafter a search was conducted.
“During the search, police found 835 full mandrax tablets, 207.54g of tik and 93.72g of cocaine hidden in furniture items throughout the house,” said McCarthy.
“The drugs, with an estimated street value of R150,000, were confiscated and the man was arrested for dealing in drugs.”
McCarthy said that the suspect is due to appear in court soon.
The Acting Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Brigadier Abdoerahgmaan Humphries, applauded the team, commended their intelligence-driven work, and warned syndicates that SAPS would continue to aggressively dismantle drug networks.
