Paul du Plessis, a teacher at GLA, said that what started as a simple, fun idea has grown into one of Jeffreys Bay’s most anticipated and celebrated events.

This year’s winners:

Junior Race – Abiezer Construction

Senior Race – Cape Cross

Best Trolley – Kouga Rhino Sanctuary (Lombardini)

Du Plessis said that their creativity, teamwork and determination were exceptional.

Yet, beyond the trophies, he said that the true success of the event lies in what it brings together.

“The Great Trolley Pro has become far more than a school competition; it is a vibrant community celebration, uniting schools, families, businesses and friends from across Jeffreys Bay,” said Du Plessis.

He said that a heartfelt thank you goes to their incredible sponsors, whose support makes this event possible.

“These sponsors are far more than donors; they are partners. They stand with us in a far greater calling, not only to host an event, but to make disciples and to shape the next generation of leaders. Their investment is not just in a day of fun, but also in the future of our community,” said Du Plessis.

The sponsors included: Abiezer Construction, Moore, JBay Superspar, Woodlands Dairy, Top Trusses, Ozzies Home Depot, Job SA Engineering and Management, Eduvos, Fountains Mall, PNP Fountains Mall, Lombardini, Cape Cross, Gabriel Jewellers, McDonald’s, Ubuntu Bricks, Just Property, Langkloof Bricks, Ultimate Paint, Beesland and Kelston Motors.

Du Plessis said that as they look ahead to 2027, the excitement is already building.

He said that applications for next year’s race will open later this year, and if this year is anything to go by, spots will be limited.

“So, to our community, get ready. We’ll see you next year on the starting line,” said Du Plessis.
