KOMANI – Police in Komani are seeking public assistance to identify two deceased men and locate their next of kin following separate incidents in the town.
The first case involves a man who died in June 2024 after falling at Hexagon Square, while the second concerns an unidentified man found with multiple injuries at Blu Rise in October 2025.
Both men remain unidentified at the state mortuary despite ongoing investigations.
June 2024
According to police spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, on 23 June 2024, Komani Police were summoned to Hexagon Square in Komani where paramedics were already attending to an African man who was reported to have fallen there.
She said that upon police arrival the man was already certified dead by the paramedics.
Mgolodela said that the car guard who happened to be at the scene identified the deceased as Saphelele Kese of T – Section Mlungisi.

Police went to the said address to inform the family about the accident.
Mgolodela further said that investigation was conducted where the relatives went to the state mortuary to identify the deceased, but it transpired that he was mistakenly identified.
“The deceased is still at the state mortuary at Komani hospital. He is estimated to be approximately 40 years of age,” said Mgolodela.
She said that he was wearing a black jacket and navy Adidas tracksuit pants at the time of his death.

October 2025
In another incident on 11 October 2025 at around 14:00, an unknown African man was found with multiple injuries at Blu Rise in Komani.
Mgolodela said that preliminary investigation was done with no success.
She said that the deceased is dark in complexion, medium height and size.
He is estimated to be in his 30s.
