ANNLEE Murray, who grew up in Cradock district, has just won the Personality of the Year 2019 Award at the Ninth Hollard Sports Industry Awards Ceremony held at the Deck at the Wanderers in Illovo.
Murray, who has been a public relations officer for the Springbok rugby team for the past 19 years, was selected for this honour by a panel of 18 judges.
To qualify, she had to have had a successful and distinguished year either personally or through the entity she represented in the sports industry, demonstrating her ability in the areas of leadership or innovation strategy, relevance and raising the profile of the sports industry.
In her 19 years of service to the Springboks, she attended 225 test matches and worked with nine different coaches and 15 captains.
She travelled with the team to many countries and was fortunate enough to meet personalities like Nelson Mandela and Queen Elizabeth II.
She has received congratulations and thanks from Springboks, former Springboks, coaches, friends and family from all over the world.
There was a crowd of approximately 1 000 people at the ceremony.
Murray grew up on a farm in Cradock district, attended Cradock Primary School and obtained her matric at Collegiate High School in Port Elizabeth.
