EP Media, publisher of the Express free local newspapers in the Eastern Cape, is excited to announce the expansion of their popular Queenstown Express and Mid-Karoo Express titles by combining them and publishing them as the Komani-Karoo Express.
“The first edition of the Komani-Karoo Express will be published next week Thursday, October 3, featuring the same local news content that our readers have become accustomed to,” said EP Media regional editor, Bettie Giliomee-Rossouw.
“Komani advertisers will now have the benefit of speaking to residents of the towns where Mid-Karoo Express used to be distributed, i.e. Cradock, Middelburg, Somerset East and Graaff-Reinet, while Mid-Karoo Express advertisers will now be able to reach the Komani market,” said Ismail.
A total of 30 000 copies will be distributed door to door to homes in these areas, free of charge, every Thursday. Bulk drops will still be made at central points.
Mid-Karoo Express has in the past two years become a sought-after item in these Karoo towns on Thursdays, being the first free newspaper published in this area.
Initially 12 000 copies were printed and distributed in the Karoo towns of Cradock, Middelburg, Somerset East, Fort Beaufort and Bedford. Copies were also inserted into Die Burger newspapers of subscribers in these towns, as well as Graaff-Reinet.
Owing to the demand for more copies in Graaff-Reinet, the print order was increased, only a year after the newspaper’s launch, with 3 000 copies for the residents of Graaff-Reinet.
“What made this publication even more unique and relevant to the communities that it serves, is that most of the editorial content is written by freelance correspondents who live in these towns and who are very much part of their local communities.
“This will still be the case in the new Komani-Karoo Express,” said Giliomee-Rossouw.
Launched in February 2016, Queenstown Express has been growing from strength to strength in the past three years and has become an integral part of the Komani community.
The Komani-Karoo Express will retain its offices in Robinson Road, Komani.
The Komani-Karoo Express is a sister publication of five other Express titles across the Eastern Cape. These are the Port Elizabeth Express, UD Express, Kouga Express, Mthatha Express and Isolomzi Express.
“Apart from bringing relevant news to its readers, the Express newspapers are also firm favourites with advertisers who stay loyal not only because of the results they get from their advertising in the paper, but also because of the fact that Express offers custom-made solutions for its varying advertising needs and budgets,” said Ismail.
The Komani-Karoo Express will be distrubuted in the following areas and surrounds: Komani (Queenstown), Cookhouse, Cradock, Fort Beaufort, Middelburg, Paterson, Somerset East, Graaff-Reinet and Nanaga.
