Seven victims who died in horrific accident outside Aberdeen identified

The Eastern Cape police this morning, July 18, released the names of the seven people who died in a horrific accident on the R61 road between Beaufort-West and Aberdeen earlier this month.

The accident happened on Saturday morning, July 2, 20km outside Aberdeen when the Opel Kadett with the seven occupants overturned and caught fire.

All seven were burned beyond recognition and forensic tests had to be done to identify them.

Emergency services struggled the whole day to free the deceased from the wreckage.

According to Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, the occupants were on route to Alice from Cape Town. 

The names of the seven victims who died are Simphiwe Mqutheni (34), Siyabulela Ngqala (41), Nonkululeko Siminini (62), Amanda Santi (25), Khanyisa Luthweyi (4), Kwakhanya Luthweyi (4) and Avokuhle Santi (6).
