THIS past weekend saw wins in the SAB Regional League Stream B title race for both the log leaders, Seven Stars, who won away to Molteno Cosmos, while second place MK Academy and third place Young Minds Development also won their weekend fixtures.

On Saturday, Seven Stars from Aloevale in Komani, went to Molteno to face Cosmos and scored three goals to earn maximum points.

The goals came from Javian Rooi’s brace and a goal from experienced midfielder, Envor Geduld.

The Komani-based side is now the first team to reach 30 points this season and lead second placed MK Academy by three points with eight games left to play this season.

In another game, Dongwe-based side, MK Academy, also scored three second-half goals at home, as they hammered Ezibeleni’s Roman Callies on Sunday afternoon.

MK’s goals came from Azola Mncwabeni, Kwanele Nonyusa and Nangamso Sophili.

The goals took MK to 27 points in second place after 14 games.

The head coach of MK Academy, Bulelani Sindelo, said this league requires strategic thinking.

“You need to be strategically aware if you want to survive in this SAB Regional League. We are in second place and led by a great team in Seven Stars.

“We just want to take it one game at a time. If we continue to win our games it will be better for us, we do not want to think of winning the league (yet),” said the former professional player.

Another team that still has a great chance to win the league, if the top two teams fumble, is Ilinge-based Young Minds Development.

YMD showed complete dominance when they scored five goals away to Rocklands Swallows, in Ntabethemba, on Saturday. The Siya Yiweni-coached side is now four points behind log leaders Stars, with a game in hand and still to play Stars in Ilinge in the league.
