Two suspects were caught with firearms after Hermanus police responded to reports of a shooting in progress in Zwelihle. Captain Fadila September, spokesperson for the Hermanus police, reports that officials were doing patrols in the area on 26 March at approximately 11:15 when they received information about the shooting. “On their arrival members of the community assisted them by pointing out where the suspects had fled. Two suspects, aged 22 and 31, were arrested and the firearms were found in their possession,” September stated. Besides the two 9 mm pistols, the police also found a gas pistol in the suspects’ possession. Both suspects appeared in the Hermanus Magistrates’ Court charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
