Members of Overstrand Municipality’s Law Enforcement K9 and Rapid Response units, in conjunction with the Marine and Coastal Unit, conducted numerous intelligence-driven operations. On Friday night, 2 June, they followed-up on information about a suspicious-looking vehicle driving in Voëlklip, Hermanus. Overstrand Deputy Mayor Lindile Ntsabo, reported that on searching the vehicle the officers found 4 108 abalone with an estimated street value of R2 million. The suspects managed to flee from the scene. The abalone was confiscated and handed to Hermanus police.
