The body of an unidentified man discovered next to an ATM in Gansbaai has sparked a police investigation.
Gansbaai police are appealing for public assistance after the man was discovered face down on Wednesday 12 August.
Police say that according to reports the man was found in a grey hoodie he had on covering his face. Investigators currently suspect no foul play.
According to social media reports and accounts of the incident, the deceased was allegedly discovered by someone who sought to use the ATM. Local police were called on the scene.
Chief Inspector for Gansbaai police, Capt M A Mazuthu, said the body had been sent to pathologists in Hermanus for a post-mortem examination. Mazuthu also reportedly noted marks on the deceased’s nose which could be attributed to the state in which the deceased was found.
