Students from Legacy Martial Arts Academy in Hermanus delivered an outstanding performance at the recent Kazuko Kickboxing Cup held in Melkbosstrand, securing an impressive 43 medals to cement their status as a force in South African kickboxing.

The championship, which served as a crucial preparation tournament for the upcoming South African National Kickboxing Championships scheduled for 24-29 April in Oudtshoorn, attracted 153 fighters from clubs across four of the country’s five districts. Legacy Martial Arts sent 21 fighters to compete in the prestigious event, and their dedication paid dividends with a remarkable medal tally of 20 gold, 18 silver and five bronze medals.

The strong showing at Melkbosstrand has positioned the Hermanus-based academy as serious contenders heading into the national championships next month.

The Kazuko Cup provided valuable competitive experience against top-level opposition from across South Africa, giving Legacy fighters crucial ring time and exposure to different fighting styles.

The academy’s success reflects the quality of training and preparation that has made Legacy Martial Arts a respected name in the South African kickboxing community. With nearly two medals per competitor, the team’s performance exceeded expectations and demonstrated the depth of talent being developed in Hermanus. The fighters now turn their attention to the national championships in Oudtshoorn, and the Legacy team is confident of making their mark on the biggest stage in South African kickboxing.
