Rescue workers on the scene where a car, allegedly travelling at high speed, knocked into one of the mobile structures used by roadworkers working in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Captain Fadila September, spokesperson for the Hermanus police, reports that the accident occurred Saturday 23 April at approximately 07:30 near the Karwyderskraal turn-off. “A roadworker was reportedly standing by the mobile control kiosk when she was hit by the car,” September said. “She sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Hermanus Hospital for treatment. A reckless and negligent driving docket has been registered.” A Hemel-en-Aarde Valley resident says there has been a substantial increase in “high speed travelling” since the road had been tarred. He added: “I have lived in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley for many years and have yet to see speed monitoring here.”
