Sanlam, together with the Motsepe Foundation, has donated support gear to the value of R2,5 million to Boland Rugby, which was distributed across the Boland region.
The gear including 10 rugby balls for each of the 210 clubs, 100 sets of pole protectors and 140 first aid boards with neck braces, were well received by the Boland Club Rugby members and will go a long way to ensuring the players are well protected during the physically demanding matches.
Sanlam’s recent long-term partnership to support Boland reaffirms its dedication to making a positive impact in the Boland rugby sphere. The handover signifies a shared vision to see the rugby community prosper and live more confidently.
“We are thrilled to announce this advanced product support to Boland Rugby Union,” said Karl Socikwa, Chief Executive: Market Development and Sustainability at Sanlam.
“As a group we believe in the power of collaboration and empowering the Boland community to live a life of confidence.
“To be able to play the game confidently, players need to be equipped with the necessary protection to prevent injury as far as possible.”
Bennie van Rooy, Boland Rugby Union president, said: “As Boland Rugby Union we are so thankful that we are able to deliver on the promises we have made to the clubs, even the smallest of clubs.”
Both the Motsepe Foundation and Sanlam have been extremely supportive in the development of Boland rugby and empowering the Boland community. This is another example of long-term commitment to fostering talent and sportsmanship in this beautiful rugby province, which is also the biggest in registered numbers in world rugby.
