The Caledon Community Policing Forum (CPF) and Caledon police invite the community to attend an important imbizo that will be held on Wednesday 16 October to discuss vital safety issues.
CPF chairperson Melvin Davids explained the decision to host the meeting was taken in light of the release of crime statistics that indicated an increase in crime despite the best efforts of the Caledon Police and CPF.
Davids said he felt the situation was not hopeless and there was still an opportunity for police and the CPF to address the problem and fight crime in a coordinated and disciplined fashion.
“The Caledon police and CPF would like to invite the residents of the greater Caledon area and other public stakeholders to attend the community imbizo. The aim is to map a way forward and work together to find solutions on how we can collectively and jointly deal with different forms of crime affecting our community.”
He added that forming partnerships with the community and other role-players at this time was crucial to prepare for the approaching festive season.
“I will be the first to acknowledge that the police alone cannot solve the crime situation in the Caledon area, and we need to partner with those who are affected to find workable solutions. We are confident the strong partnership with the community will be felt by those with any criminal intentions in the coming festive season period.”
The imbizo will take place at the Riemvasmaak Aftercare open space on Wednesday 16 October at 12:00 (noon).
