Bredasdorp Athletics Club has successfully elected a new management committee that will steer the club for the next two years, following a well-organised special general meeting overseen by election official Aubrey Wyngaard.
The election process saw all six key portfolios filled, ensuring the club maintains strong leadership across all operational areas. While there was an initial setback when the first nominee for vice-chair declined the nomination, the position was subsequently filled through proper electoral procedures, demonstrating the club’s commitment to democratic governance.
The newly-elected committee comprises: Patrick Pietersen (chairperson), Wouter de Wit (vice chairperson), Hermonique Diedericks (secretary), Leona Neethling (assistant secretary), Jacoba Hack (treasurer) and Randall Smith (development officer).
“The successful completion of the electoral process reflects the club’s healthy organisational structure and the community’s ongoing commitment to athletics in the Bredasdorp area,” the chairperson said. With all leadership positions now filled, the club is well-positioned to continue its programs and development initiatives.
The outgoing committee handed over their responsibilities to the new leadership team, who will be tasked with guiding the club’s activities, managing its finances and driving development programmes over the next two years.
The Bredasdorp Athletics Club expressed confidence in the new leadership team’s ability to advance the sport in the region and continue building on the club’s established foundation.
The athletics community wishes the newly-elected committee every success as it embarks on its two-year term, working to promote athletics and support athletes of all levels within the Bredasdorp community.
