Widow’s Bay made television history at the 78th Emmy Awards on Monday night, sweeping up 14 trophies to become the most awarded comedy series in a single year.
The ceremony, held in Los Angeles and hosted by Law and Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay, saw wins spread across drama, comedy and limited series categories.
The Pitt claimed the outstanding drama series award for the second year running, whilst DTF St. Louis took home the prize for best limited series.
Matthew Rhys enjoyed a stellar night, winning lead actor in a comedy for Widow’s Bay and adding a second Emmy for his performance in limited series The Beast in Me. His co-star Stephen Root picked up the supporting actor in a comedy trophy, with Kate O’Flynn winning supporting actress for the same show.
