Blitzboks to play Argentina
The Blitzboks will play New Zealand in the third-fourth play-off in Singapore.

The Blitzboks fell 12-5 short against France in the Cup semi-final of the HSBC Singapore 7s tournament at the Singapore National Stadium on Sunday 1 February.

The South Africans only managed a solitary score by Christie Grobbelaar in the second half, after the French team surged to a 12-0 lead at half-time. The first half was dominated by Les Bleus.

Although the men in green launched attack after attack and came close to again scoring in the second stanza, the French defense stood tall, as they marched on to the Cup final.

Coach Philip Snyman’s charges will now turn their sights to the third-fourth play-off against New Zealand, who failed to withstand a dramatic fightback by Fiji in their Cup semi-final clash. The Fijians won the encounter 21-14.

The Blitzboks versus All Blacks 7s match kicks off at 12:33, while the Cup final between France and Fiji will start at 13:41.

Meanwhile, on the women’s side, the age-old rivalry between Australia and New Zealand will be reignited in the Cup final, after the two sides stormed their way to the last dance.

The Australian Women were much too strong for their Canadian counterparts, claiming a 35-7 victory, while the New Zealanders notched up a 44-7 over USA.

Canada and USA will play for the third/fourth place at 12:05, and the women’s Cup final will be contested by Australia and New Zealand at 13:05.
