CAPE TOWN – A major fire broke out at the Twinsaver facility in Fabriek Street, Bellville South, yesterday afternoon, prompting the deployment of 30 firefighters to contain the blaze.

The City’s Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident at approximately 14:25 on Wednesday 11 March, according to spokesperson Jermaine Carelse.

All staff members have been successfully evacuated from the premises, and no injuries have been reported at this stage.

Firefighters were working to contain the fire, with crews remaining on the scene to tackle the blaze.

Traffic Services was requested on Wednesday to close Fabriek Street as emergency services continued their response efforts.

Members of the public were also advised to avoid the area at the time, Carelse said.

The cause of the fire had not yet been determined, and investigations are ongoing.
