Keeping youth off streets
Riders were divided into groups taking on either a 30 km or 60 km route.
After building up an appetite after all the cycling the riders were treated to boerewors rolls and lunch packs at the local community market.
The ride was also a celebration of Mobility Month (October).
Eon Hendrickse, founder of IVCT said it allowed for the promotion of MTB in communities like Ida’s Valley and Cloetesville by showing children the networks of trails available to them in their area.
“An event like this creates jobs for the day, injects local businesses and provides opportunities for local boys and girls to get their bums on bikes and feet off the streets,” Hendrickse explained.
The sponsors of the day included the Nedbank Sport Trust, Herotel, Stellenbosch SuperSpar, Stellenbosch FC, Pippa Ratcliffe, IVCT, and all the locals who helped on the day.
