Somerset-Wes: Die rugbyspan van die HOËRSKOOL CLOETESVILLE hou ‘n geldinsameling by Panarottis in Somerset Mall. Vyftien van die skool se rugbyspelers sal hierdie aand as kelners werk, en 10% van die aand se inkomste sal aan die skoolspan gaan. Mense wat dit bywoon, het ook ‘n kans om pryse te wen.

Stellenbosch: Die jaarvergadering van die VRIENDE VAN DIE STELLENBOSCH-MUSEUM word om 18:00 by Erfurthuis, Ryneveldstraat 37, gehou. Die gasspreker is die skrywer en digter Danie Marais, veral bekend as digter en musiekghoeroe. Hy sal oor sy gemengde gevoelens oor Stellenbosch en die verraderlike simbool wat die dorp vir verskillende groepe geword het, praat. As aanknopingspunt sal hy onder meer ‘n gedig of twee oor Stellenbosch uit sy jongste versamelbundel gebruik. Van sy boeke sal te koop wees. Verversings sal ná die vergadering bedien word. WOENSDAG 27 MEI
Stellenbosch: Die ledevergadering van die STELLENBOSSE HEEMKRING vind om 19:00 in die konferensiekamer van die NG kerk Stellenbosch-Wes plaas. Die spreker is Johan Krige, skrywer van die boek Moederkerk, Kruiskerk: ‘n Rivier van lewende water 1990-2024. Die boek demonstreer die ommekeer in die bedieningspatroon wat sedert 2000 in die gemeente plaasgevind het. Die ontstaan en ontwikkeling van sowat 45 bedieninge word met teks, dokumente en beeldmateriaal aangebied. Die bedieninge van sowel die Moederkerk as die Kruiskerk word in die konteks van die gemeente, die gemeenskap en binne en buite die landsgrense bespreek. Belangstellendes is welkom. Stellenbosch: The STELLENBOSCH INTEREST GROUP will hold its annual general meeting at the Chamber of Mines (Geology) Building of Stellenbosch University, on the corner of Ryneveld Street and Merriman Avenue, at 18:30. Graham Jacobs, a highly respected conservation architect and spatial-heritage consultant with nearly four decades of experience in architectural heritage and cultural landscape projects in South Africa and abroad, will be the guest speaker. He holds a master’s degree in conservation from the University of York, has served as a councillor and is a former chairperson of the Built Environment and Landscape Committee at Heritage Western Cape. His talk is entitled “Changing Places: To what extent should one be able to introduce new features to a heritage site without diminishing its heritage value?” The gathering will take place on the ground floor, with the entrance situated on the eastern side of the building. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Stellenbosch: German punk rock crew Bonsai Kitten will perform at the DAISY JONES BAR at Summerhill Wine Estate. Since forming around frontwoman Tiger Lilly Marleen in 2005, the band has built a reputation across Europe for explosive live shows that move between dive-bar chaos and full-throttle rock spectacle. Opening the evening is Cape underground outfit Alive At Midnight at 20:00, bringing their raw punk rock sound to the vineyards. Doors open at 18:00. Stellenbosch: The Bullets return to the DAISY JONES BAR as part of Sunday Sessions for another afternoon of timeless favourites, old school charm and the kind of songs that fill a floor without trying too hard.
