Three men killed in two shootings in Khayamandi


Two shootings in two days are being investigated by Stellenbosch police.

In the latest incident, this morning (18 June) police offers on patrol were alerted of a shooting incident in Mdala Street, Khayamandi around 09:20. At a shack in the neighbourhood, police came across two men, sitting on a chair and the other lying on the floor. Both victims had gunshot wounds and were already deceased.

According to Capt Nathalie Martin, a spokesperson for Stellenbosch police, this incident was preceded by another shooting Wednesday (27 June) evening. She confirmed patrolling officers received a complaint of a shooting in Nkanini around 21:30. “Upon their arrival on the scene a group of people was standing outside a shack and they were pointed to the shack where the victim was. They noticed that the door of the shack was broken and forced open from the outside. Inside the shack members found the body of a unknown man laying on the floor,” she explained.

The victim was dead and appeared to have been shot.

A case of murder is being investigated in relation to both incidents. Martin said no arrested have yet been made and urge the public to assist the investigations by contacting Stellenbosch police at 021 809 5015 or calling Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Alternatively information can anonymously by shared via the MySAPS mobile app.
