Stellenbosch businesses are invited to swap the boardroom for the riverbank this September as the inaugural Stellenbosch Corporate Duck Race promises a day of creativity, camaraderie and community spirit.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Stellenbosch in partnership with Spier Wine Farm, the event will take place on Saturday 19 September, transforming the Eerste River into a colourful spectacle as branded rubber ducks race for glory.
Businesses from across the greater Stellenbosch region are encouraged to “adopt” a duck and give it a corporate makeover.
Meaningful purpose
Supplied by Rotary, each duck becomes a blank canvas for companies to showcase their brand personality, with prizes, bragging rights and plenty of entertainment on offer as they compete in a light-hearted race down the river.
While the event is designed to be fun, it also serves a meaningful purpose. The Corporate Duck Race offers businesses an opportunity to strengthen team spirit, connect with fellow organisations, increase brand visibility and demonstrate their commitment to giving back to the local community.
Every duck entered helps support the GBV Centre Stellenbosch, a pioneering 24-hour facility providing free, comprehensive care to survivors of gender-based violence.
The centre offers medical treatment, trauma counselling, legal assistance and emergency accommodation, ensuring vulnerable individuals have access to essential services whenever they need them.

According to the Rotary Club of Stellenbosch, they wanted to create an event that brings the local business community together in a fun and memorable way while making a real difference where it matters most.
Every duck on the river represents a business choosing to invest in both its community and a brighter future for those affected by gender-based violence.
Whether companies are entering to unleash their creativity, build stronger teams, entertain clients or simply support an important local cause, the inaugural Stellenbosch Corporate Duck Race promises an unforgettable day on the banks of the Eerste River. The participation fee is R2 500.
