Stellenview Premium Wines made its mark in the 2026 Winemag Prescient Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon Reports, with five wines from its portfolio scoring 90 points or above across both white and red categories.
The performance reflects the Stellenbosch wine producer’s focus on crafting wines that balance quality, character and affordability.

Top marks for two chardonnays
The 2026 Winemag Prescient Chardonnay Report proved fruitful for the local estate, with both the Great Five Reserve Chardonnay 2025 and Kruger Family Reserve Chardonnay 2025 earning 92 points each. Both wines were named among the report’s Honourable Mentions.
Winemag notes that the South African Chardonnay category is becoming increasingly varied, as winemakers explore the grape through different lenses – fruit expression, freshness, texture and oak handling.
Stellenview’s two entries give consumers a chance to experience that range without stretching the budget, with the Great Five Reserve Chardonnay 2025 retailing at R150 and the Kruger Family Reserve Chardonnay 2025 at R195.
Rounding out the results
Stellenview’s red portfolio also drew recognition, with three cabernet sauvignons clearing the 90-point threshold in the 2026 Winemag Prescient Cabernet Sauvignon Report.
The KFK Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 led the way at 91 points, while the Great Five Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 and Kruger Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 each scored 90.
The report highlights a shift in the category, with the best wines showing that power and structure can sit comfortably alongside freshness and approachability. Elegance and restraint, it notes, are increasingly valued over sheer intensity.
Portfolio-wide result
Taken together, the two reports place five Stellenview wines at 90 points or above, spread across chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon and representing three of the producer’s ranges – Kruger Family Reserve, Great Five and KFK Reserve.
“These results are a wonderful affirmation of the diversity within the Stellenview portfolio,” says Stellenview Premium Wines managing director Reino Kruger. “To have wines recognised across both Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, and across different ranges, speaks to our commitment to producing wines that offer both quality and character.”
The showing rounds off a strong year for Stellenview in one of South Africa’s most watched wine tasting programmes, as the producer heads into the final stretch of 2026 with recognition across its portfolio.
