Would-be voters in need of their official identification documents can visit the Department of Home Affairs Stellenbosch office to pick up the necessary documents.
In lead up to the municipal elections on Wednesday 4 November, the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) will host a registration weekend on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June.
The IEC encourages all eligible South Africans who are not registered to make their mark, or who have changed their place of residence, to ensure that they are registered in the voting district where they ordinarily reside.
Voters may only vote at the voting station where they are registered.
Stellenbosch voters whose ward boundaries have changed must also en sure they are registered at the correct voting station.
Prospective voters are invited to use of the IEC’s online registration platform at registertovote.elections.org.za on a desktop computer or mobile phone to register or update their registration details.
Over the registration weekend the Department of Home Affairs’ Stellenbosch office will be open to assist citizens who need their identity documents to register to vote.
Mobile offices will also visit various towns across the province throughout the registration weekend.
In the Cape Winelands mobile offices will be stationed in Van Wyksvlei in Wellington on both days, De Doorns on Saturday and Touws River on Sunday.
