Kylemore at the summit of club rugby’s Super League C

Kylemore Rugby Club are flying high following their 31-29 win over Delft United at the Kylemore Sports Ground on Saturday 30 May.

The victory in Super League C sees the team move to the league summit, a point clear of second placed Rangers.

They will be looking to increase that points lead when they take on 13th placed Raithby Universals at the Raithby Sports Ground this Saturday (6 June). For RU, the match presents an opportunity to claw their way out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, a return to the top four is on the cards for fifth placed Pniël Villagers when they host fourth placed Eerste River at Pniël Sports Ground. The home team will look to capitalise on the winning momentum they managed to find with their emphatic victory over Rangers on Saturday 23 May.

Super League A will see Maties returning to play when they host sixth placed Durbell at the Danie Craven Stadium. A bye weekend for the students saw them lose the top spot on the log to UCT Ikeys, who have played two matches less than the Maroon Machine.

Franschhoek will look to emulate their recent winning performance against Maties, when they travel to Phillip Herbstein Sports Ground in Constantia to take on False Bay. It won’t be easy for the 12th placed team from the valley, as ninth placed Bay will give their all to not drop points in the encounter.

For last-placed Van der Stel-Evergreens, this coming weekend may be an opportunity for them to collect their first points of the season, when they travel to face fellow stragglers Uni-Mil at Theo Marais Park in Milnerton. Both sides are yet to pick up any points, but whether the match will indeed kick-off is still uncertain, as VDE have already forfeited three of their six matches this season.

Teams also return to action in the Northern League this weekend, with only Excelsior sitting out on a bye weekend. Log leaders Blue Stars United host Stellenbosch-Coronations in Klapmuts.

Blakes are on the road to face Morning Star, Faure host Police Blackheath and Cloetesville travel to Fisantekraal.
