Stellenbosch police have opened an inquest after a man was found dead in the town’s CBD this morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Nathalie Martin confirmed on Thursday (7 May) that police officers were called to the scene in Andringa Street at 09:50. On their arrival, ambulance personnel informed the police officers that an unknown man was lying on the ground.
The man was declared dead by emergency medical personnel on the scene.
According to social media reports, the deceased may have been homeless.
Martin said no foul play is suspected and the incident is under investigation.
