This past weekend Joanne Lefson, founder of the Farm Sanctuary South Africa in Franschhoek, launched her book Pigcasso: The Painting Pig that Saved a Sanctuary. Saturday (7 October) marked the seventh anniversary of the sanctuary’s official opening. In 2016 Lefson rescued Pigcasso, which was was due to be slaughtered, and brought her to the sanctuary. At her new home Lefson discovered the pig’s artistic talent, and from then on she was dubbed as Pigcasso. The international actor George Clooney is also the proud owner of one of Pigcasso’s paintings.
