• Stellenbosch: The STELLENBOSCH UNIVERSITY BOTANICAL GARDEN hosts its first student exhibition, featuring artworks by unexhibited artists as young as 10 years. The exhibition, curated by Karen Stuart, showcases works in many mediums and subjects. It will be on display until Friday 17 April and is made possible by the James & Shirley Sherwood Project. • Ida’s Valley: SPEELKRING PRE-PRIMARY holds a colour run at the school in Dahlia Street from 09:00 to 13:00. Tickets cost R50; children enter free of charge. Ticket collection is at 08:30. Bring the family, picnic basket and camping chairs for a morning of fun.
• Stellenbosch: The TOKARA RARE PLANT FAIR & AUTUMN OPEN GARDEN will be held from 08:00 to 16:00. Explore the farm’s gardens with secluded corners and sculptures, and buy a variety of plants from specialist growers. Guided tours are available. Refreshments will be on sale. Admission costs R60; children under 10 enter free of charge. All proceeds go to the Camphill Farm Community in Hermanus.
• Stellenbosch: Die skrywer Anton Roodt stel sy tweede roman, Aan die Hemeltrans, by die DROSTDY-TEATER bekend. Die boek volg kort op die hakke van Roodt se bekroonde Weerlose Meganika en word deur Tafelberg uitgegee. Roodt sal by die geleentheid in gesprek met Ingrid Winterbach wees. • Stellenbosch: Jonathan Amid is om 10:30 in gesprek met die skrywer Réna Rauch tydens die bekendstelling van haar nuwe boek, Beauty. • Stellenbosch: The Stellenbosch University Drama Department presents Tom, Dick and Harry by Ray and Michael Cooney at the ADAM SMALL AUDITORIUM. In the old-school farce, Tom and Linda are in the final stages of adopting a baby, waiting for the agency to conduct the final interview and inspection. But Tom’s brothers pitch to support their brother with boxes filled with contraband, illegal immigrants and shopping bags with suspicious content. Tom tries to salvage the situation, but the growing lies and changing explanations may cost Tom and Linda the baby. The cast is directed by Petrus du Preez. The show runs from Thursday 7 to Saturday 9 May, and Thursday 14 to Saturday 16 May at 19:00, with a matinee at 14:00 on 16 May. Tickets cost R110 through Quicket.
