As part of Youth Month, the South African Police Service (Saps) honours and celebrates the dedication, discipline and resilience of its young members who serve with pride across the country.

This month it shines the spotlight on rising star 25-year-old Constable Clinton Billings, a passionate and committed officer currently serving at Public Order Policing (POP) in Faure.

Born and raised in Gordon’s Bay, he grew up in a family rooted in law enforcement.

From a young age he was immersed in a culture of duty, discipline and service, essential values that shaped an unwavering desire to join the police service.

A dedicated athlete, he is also proud to have earned Western Province colours in athletics, demonstrating his commitment not only to policing but also to personal excellence and discipline.

He officially joined the ranks on 1 April 2022 and completed his basic training at the training academy in Kimberley.

Following this he began his policing journey at Gordon’s Bay Police Station, where he performed operational duties.

On 1 October 2023 Billings was transferred to POP Faure, where he now serves in the Supply Chain Management: Movable Government Property and Loss Management Unit, a critical component ensuring accountability and efficiency in operational logistics.

In his pursuit of growth, Billings is also currently furthering his education through studies towards a degree in Supply Chain Management.

He leaves the youth of South Africa with this message of inspiration: “People will try to discourage you when you chase your dreams. Do not be distracted or discouraged, keep focused and keep on chasing your dreams.”
