It is a proud moment for the Young Bafana Soccer Academy as it officially send its first player to Germany.
Arden Scholtz from Somerset West embarked on his journey in late February and has joined YB’s new Bundesliga partner club, FC Köln in their international residential football programme within the Bundesliga. The next intake commences in April.
Together with 30 other youth aged between 17 and 22 years from various academies around the world, Scholtz will have the incredible opportunity to learn and train from a qualified coaching team at the football school, while being observed by scouts from the youth academy of FC Köln.
Arden played full-time at the Young Bafana Soccer Academy between the ages of 11 to 13 years when at primary school.
He was a skilled and talented player during his time at Young Bafana, adding value both on and off the field, and this saw him being awarded the Golden Boot award at uner-13 level.
He attended Michaelhouse for his high schooling, but continued to train and play in tournaments for Young Bafana during his breaks and school holidays.
