A woman lost her life and two more women were injured in an accident on the R102 in Croydon.

Spokesperson Deanna February said Emergency Medical Services (EMS) officials responded to a light motor-vehicle crash that occurred near Kramat Road, Faure on Saturday afternoon (26 February). “A call for assistance came through to the EMS Communication Centre at 15:15,” she said. “The incident involved one light motor vehicle, which rolled. Sadly, one female patient sustained fatal injuries and two female patients sustained serious injuries. The two patients were transported to a local hospital. One WC Government EMS rescue vehicle, one ambulance and one private ambulance service vehicle responded to the scene.

“We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.”

A police spokesperson confirmed the incident was the result of a blackout experienced by the driver. The incident claimed the life of an occupant, identified as 32-year-old Felicia Smith from Faure, and a case of culpable homicide was being investigated by the Macassar police.
