For the past few years and throughout lockdown the Le Patch Charity Shop in Somerset West has built itself into a self-sustainable project, which works hand-in-hand with a coffee trailer with a vision to increase revenue, sell a variety of goods and expand the customer base.
It was implemented as a self-sustainable internal fundraising project that aids Patch Helderberg Child Abuse Centre in the raising of needed funds to assist and support victims of child sexual abuse, and relies on the Helderberg Community for donations for its continued operation and survival.
Shop manager Robin Chiriseri said with future support and aid Le Patch is looking at opening a coffee trailer on the premises, to complement a tea garden, where visitors can enjoy serene surroundings, shop and a cuppa.
The charity shop accepts donations of all types, including clothing, kitchenware, bedding, shoes, toys, baby clothes and suits. It also caters for furniture donations of all types from vintage to modern and antique. Furniture donations are collected through appointment.
Bulk resellers, individual buyers, vintage sellers, those looking for children’s clothes, men and women’s clothes, and other various items are all welcome to shop at Le Patch.
“The shop needs your support and generosity,” said Chiriseri. “All proceeds generated, income raised is used in assisting and supporting victims of child sexual abuse.
The charity shop is based on the Patch Helderberg Child Abuse Centre premises, (Lyndhurst Community Care Centre, cnr Dummer and Dorhill) and is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:15 and month end Saturday from 08:00 to 13:00.
