Yet another long weekend has gone by, another disruptive period in terms of continuity for most rugby clubs.
I’m sure some used the break well; key players, for example, may have used the hiatus to their benefit to recover.
With the different leagues slowly taking shape, it will be interesting to see if certain trends continue.
) Strand vs Eerste River (Gustrouw)
Strand are setting the Super League C scene alight with 15 points from three away matches. Rivas, on the other hand, are still finding their feet, but have been competitive in their previous fixtures. This match may just be a hurdle too high for them.
) Macassar vs Kylemore (Macassar)
The MC Boys have had a more than satisfactory start to the season and will look at this next fixture with quiet confidence. Kylemore is an unpredictable team, but the local lads should take at least four log points from the outing.
) Raithby Universals vs Pniel Villagers (Pniel)
Both clubs have been inconsistent in form, so this should be an evenly contested fixture. However, Raithby always seem to come second in these type of matches and playing away won’t make it easier for them.
) St George’s vs Scottsdene-Central (Scottsdene)
I always found Scottsdene a difficult fixture at their home ground, as they seem to be very confident and the visiting spectators are far from the playing field. The Lulus have hit a dry patch, but should target this match to regain winning form. The visitors may have fire-power up front to set up their first victory.
) All Saints vs Hands & Heart (Eikendal
)
Saints have had their best start in Super League B. Seven points from their last two away matches road could make them confident to take another four. However, they face stiff opposition, who seem to be doing something right as well.
) Gordon’s Bay Pioneers vs Lamotte (Gordon’s Bay)
Pioneers’ last fixture was an away win over Faure. Still unbeaten in this league, the team from Gordon’s Bay should continue their winning form this week.
