Die titel Hoerkind verwys na die neerhalende kwetswoord wat hom as kind toegesnou is omdat hy buite die eg gebore is. Hy is op ses kinderhuis toe. Sy stiefpa het op hom geskiet. Op 13 het hy in die kloue van ’n pedofiel beland. Alkohol- en dwelmafhanklikheid het hom gery. Een aand is hy gyselaar gehou en met ’n mes gesteek. Sy foute is volop, maar hy leer namate hy voortbeur. Dié eerlike eenmanvertoning met Geon Nel in die hofrol gaan gehore gewis bekoor. Somerset West: The Tygerberg City Choir, under the baton of conductor Peter Roux, will present excerpts from the oratorio The Messiah, the well-known masterpiece composed in 1741 by George Frederic Handel at the Helderberg Dutch Reformed church in Firmount Road at 15:00. Capturing the deep emotions of the story of our redemption, it consists of scripture texts taken from the Old and New Testament. Among the highlights are “And the glory of the Lord”, “For unto us a child is born”, “His yoke is easy”, “His burthen is light”, “Since by man came death”, and “Worthy is the lamb”. The choir will also perform a lamentation, “Gallia” by the French composer Charles Gounod, for solo soprano, chorus and organ, inspired by the French military defeat of 1870 and first performed the following year. The talented choir will be joined by the soprano Hester Gey van Pittius and accompanied on organ by muso Arnold Miller. Tickets will be available at the door at R60 per person.

Strand: Renowned saxophonist Don Vino shares the stage with friends in the music industry to produce a concert like no other at the Strand Town Hall. Among artists sharing the local stage is the incredible Nur Abrahams, Fagrie Isaacs, Co-B, The Elginairs, Salome and DJ Newton. Quinton Manuels will be the master of ceremonies. Proceeds of this show will go to the Heartland Baby Sanctuary in Somerset West. The show starts at 19:00. Tickets cost R150 and can be securely booked via Quicket.
