Strand: Die Strand Biblioteekvriende bied ’n gratis boekbespreking om 10:00 in die biblioteeksaal. Skrywer Elise Verster sal belangrike punte uitlig uit haar boek, “So lyk ’n vrou” wat handel oor haar 40 jaar se getroude lewe met ’n narsis wat haar daagliks verbaal en fisies mishandel het, hoe sy uiteindelik daaruit ontsnap het en die belangrikste, hoe sy weer vrede, vreugde en liefde gevind het. Die vriende se algemene jaarvergadering word ook by die geleentheid afgehandel en die jaar word afgesluit met verversings en tee en koffie. Lekker boekpryse is op die spel in gelukstrekkings. Strand: An explosion of rock music will rattle the basin when Women of Rock – Unleashed takes to The Drama Factory stage at 19:30. The concert pays tribute to the talented, strong, independent and amazing women of rock music over the last 60 years – from Janis to Alanis, Patti Smith to Pink, and Blondie to the Bangles.
The songs and energy will make the audience want to rock all night long as RockSteady, a five-piece band, brings the music to the basin. It features Sharyn Seidel-Kometz on lead vocals, Pam Levesque on keyboard, Josh Buchalter on lead guitar, Colin Plit on bass and Damian Rijkers on drums. Gordon’s Bay: The Compassionate Friends will host a candle lighting ceremony in memory of children, grandchildren, siblings and babies born as angels and loved ones of all ages in the clubhouse of the Summervale Lifestyle Estate in Lemoenboom Street at 15:30 for 16:00. The annual event is held to remember those gone too soon, especially as the festive season has a way of bringing the dearly departed to mind and making us more aware of the empty chair in the house. The programme includes a slot to share a message of hope, a poem, letter, CD or DVD recording of their choice (maximum three minutes). There will also be some musical items and a special video in memory of the departed.
