The Walker Bay Orchid Society celebrates its 30th anniversary with a show at St Peter’s Anglican church hall in Main Road, Hermanus, on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 August.
The organisation, established in the Sandbaai and Hermanus area by a group of orchid enthusiasts in 1994, aims to share its members’ knowledge of orchids, to curb the stereotype that “orchids are difficult to grow”, and to share their beauty with the public.
The society’s anniversary milestone is a marvellous achievement and a testament to the captivating nature of orchids.
During the show orchids will be on sale to those who want to increase their collection or would like to start the amazing journey of growing orchids.
The show runs from 09:00 to 17:00 on Friday, and from 09:00 to 15:00 on Saturday.
Admission costs R20 for adults and R15 for pensioners.
