The Helderberg Vikings Veterans cricket team celebrated finishing as runners-up in the Boland Veterans’ Association’s inaugural T20 Franchise League.
The final was played on Friday 17 March against Paarl Heat at Groot Drakenstein, where Vikings lost by just three runs. Both teams were commended for their competitive spirt and sportsmanship.
Vikings players left a lasting impression as they walked away with the best bowler award, given to Varma Kaladindi, best batsman award, to Ruben Matthews, and player of the tournament award, to Abdul Aziz Temoor.
Additionally, five players of the Helderberg Vikings team have been selected to represent Boland over-40s in Johannesburg from Sunday 7 to Saturday 13 May at an Inter-provincial tournament. They are Temoor, James Albanie, Matthews, Gasant Moller and Thomas Smith.
