Two suspects have been arrested for firearm-related crimes.
Warrant Officer Nico Beukes, spokesperson for Strand Police, says the first suspect was arrested last Wednesday (9 March) in Sercor Drive for possession of a firearm without a license. “The 15-year-old suspect was arrested while police members were patrolling when they received info from a reliable source.
“Police members then found the suspect in possession of a 9mm pistol and six 9mm rounds.”
The suspect has appeared in the Strand Magistrates’ Court to apply for a legal representative.
“On Friday (10 March) we also arrested a 20-year-old man for theft of a firearm,” concludes Beukes.
