Top honour for Helderberg’s favourite community newspaper!

DistrictMail & Helderberg Gazette and members of its editorial team were among the crème de la crème of South Africa’s community pressed honoured during the AVBOB FCJ Excellence Awards 2021 in Boksburg, Gauteng on Friday evening (14 October). The former sold title DistrictMail placed second in the newspaper of the year category for corporate-owned paid titles with a circulation under 5 000. Journalist Rick Marais (left) placed third in the investigative reporting category for work produced for sister publication Hermanus Times, while editorial publisher Tasmin Cupido (right) placed third in the editorial comment category. Other Boland Media newspapers and journalists were also recognised: Eikestadnuus editor Angelo Julies (fifth: editorial comment) Worcester Standard journalist Phiwokhule Mothemela (fifth: sport), Weslander journalist Noluvu Ludidi (third: human interest) and Weslander (second: front page of the year).Photo: Jamey Gordon
