A case of robbery with a firearm was opened by Strand police after a 14-year-old girl fell victim to a suspected robber last Wednesday (29 March).
The victim was allegedly walking home with a friend in Rusthof Street, Strand, when the suspect approached them, asking for money.
According to police the perpertrator allegedly assaulted the friend, who ran for safety after she was hit in face. The suspect then took out a firearm and grabbed the victim around her neck, stripping her of the gold teardrop earrings she was wearing. The suspect, an 18-year-old man who initially fled the scene, was later apprehended by police.
