A stolen bicycle worth R90 000 was recovered early on Tuesday morning (22 March) when Secure Rite Security armed response officers noticed a man acting suspiciously as he cycled along Uitsig Drive in Briza, Somerset West. It was about 08:15 when armed response officer Leighton Groenewald was on duty and had just finished attending to an alarm going off when he saw a very nervous-looking person on an extremely expensive bicycle passing by. He stopped the suspect for questioning and called officer Lee Marc Alloys to assist, as well as Somerset West police. Information was followed-up and the owner of the bicycle was contacted and it was positively identified. The owner opened a case with the police and the suspect was arrested on charges of theft.
