Suspect nabbed, firearm and ammunition seized

This past weekend members of Operation Restore deployed to Somerset West followed up on information of a firearm being kept at a complex at Somerset Place in Derrick Drive. Officers went to the address and found a man at the premises. During the search that ensued they found a black Taurus pistol with two rounds. The man could not provide nor produce the licence of the firearm and told the officers that he does not possess a licence for any firearm. The 30-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The suspect was expected to make his court appearance in the Somerset West Magistrates’ Court once charged.
