A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly firing shots at another man in Sir Lowry’s Pass on October 20, causing the victim to flee, and was apprehended by police shortly after.


A young man was arrested after allegedly firing shots at another in Sir Lowry’s Pass on Sunday 20 October.

The incident allegedly occurred around 21:20 in October Street. The 20-year-old complainant was with a friend when the suspect, who was known to him, approached them with a firearm.

The suspect then opened fire in the complainant’s direction causing him to flee the scene to avoid being struck by any bullets. A case was opened at the Somerset West Police Station, and thanks to swift work by detectives the suspect was apprehended.

The suspect, also a 20-year-old, briefly appeared in the Somerset West Magistrates’ Court for attempted murder.
